高級檢察官丁柔（陳秀雯）與大律師餘在春（歐陽震華）感情漸穩，可是柔的舊愛李國柱（鄧梓峰）離婚回港，重新介入，二人感情頓現危機。新進檢察官唐毓文（王菲）辦事能幹，甚得柔賞識；檢察官張家賢（洪朝豐）看風駛裡，對文展開追求。但為文婉拒，而文對直的律師周志輝（蘇永康）產生好感。
輝自與舊女友分手，對女人心存恐懼，後終於鼓起勇氣與文發展感情之際，卻遭遇一段“孽緣”，令輝再陷困擾。探員周文彬（駱應鈞）與大律師江承宙（劉美娟）感情由濃轉淡，二人思想上、生活上距雖甚遠，加上失聰大律師周少聰（蔣志光）力追宙，自卑的彬遂主動提出分手。
彬的上司林學宜（林漪娸）為人耿直，最初與彬不咬弦，後來因工作上擦出火花，互相關懷……玩世不恭的師爺江承宇（陶大宇）愛上夜總會公關湯芷瑚（梁婉靜），宇母江李頌云（蘇杏璇）極力反對，但宇力加追求，最後宇更發現珊為同性戀者，因此招來殺身之禍……
